Mentor Notes #108 - Don’t let their tension steal your peace

Mentor Note #108

Mentor Note:

“Be so steady in your own energy that you invite people into your peace, instead of falling into their tension.” – Yung Pueblo

Lets Dive in...

Hello Reader,

I came across this quote last week and it stopped me in my tracks. I knew right away it had to be today’s note.

So many soulful, creative humans I speak with share the same concern: how to protect their energy.

What begins as a subtle feeling from someone else - an off mood, a sharp comment, a quiet judgment, can easily slip into your own system. Before long, their energy is not just brushing against you, it’s infiltrating your peace and consuming the space you need for your creativity to flourish.

As a creative, you naturally absorb the world around you - it’s part of what makes your work rich and meaningful. But with that gift also comes a challenge: when others are anxious, chaotic, or tense, you can unconsciously slip into their energy instead of holding your own.

And then there’s judgment - the kind that can sting deeply. Sometimes you feel judged, and before you know it, you find yourself observing others with the same critical lens.

Other times, you notice envy in the room, people silently sizing themselves up against you, perhaps feeling threatened by your light. If you’re not careful, their energy can begin to penetrate your own, clouding the beautiful creative spirit you’re here to embody.

This is why steadiness matters. It’s about protecting your creative essence and staying true to yourself, even when others project their insecurities onto you.
Your job isn’t to shrink, match, or fix their discomfort. Your power lies in staying rooted in your energy, so you don’t lose your way.

The Takeaway

You don’t need to meet tension with tension, or judgment with judgment.

You don’t need to dim your light to soothe someone else’s envy.

Your role is to hold your peace so fully that others feel the invitation to soften when they’re around you. This is self-leadership and artistry of the soul.

Something to Try

✨ This week, when you feel someone else’s judgment, envy, or stress creeping into your body, pause and check in with yourself. Ask:

  • Is this mine, or am I carrying theirs?
  • How can I anchor back into my own energy?

A simple practice: place one hand on your heart, take three slow breaths, and silently say to yourself, I choose peace. Notice how quickly your energy shifts.

Over time, this steadiness becomes your superpower - not just for your wellness, but also for your creative work, relationships, and brand.

P.S. Remember, the world doesn’t need you to be everything, it needs you to be steady in your truth.

I appreciate you!

Until next week,

Much love,

Sally xx

Mentor Note #111 Mentor Note: "Surrender to change or suffer in a loop." – Unknown Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, I was thinking this week about my notes and how sometimes, when you look back on personal growth, it feels so much easier than living through it in the moment. Times of change, expansion, or elevation can feel like you’re drowning, like you’re losing yourself. They can be some of the hardest moments to navigate - even when you know they’re exactly what you need. I’ve seen it in my...

Mentor Note #110 Mentor Note: "It is never too late to be what you might have been." – George Eliot Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, Are you looking at your calendar thinking FAR OUT it's October? It's like July to September went by so fast, I blinked and I missed it! agh! As I felt the pressure seep in thinking shit I haven't done this and that I thought of you. It’s so easy to slip into the belief that “it’s too late.” That the window has closed for the goals you wanted to reach, the projects...

Mentor Note #109 Mentor Note: "You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean, in a drop." – Kahlil Gibran Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, Lately, I’ve been reflecting on my own spiritual path. It’s funny how the universe works - I was deep in thought about it earlier last week, and then I stumbled across an interview with Madonna and Jay Shetty that echoed the very same feelings I had been sitting with. After my short but wild time in the spotlight, I felt an undeniable pull inward....
