Lets Dive in...
Hello Reader,
Recently, I had a crazy experience.....I danced in a music video with a group of school mums. I almost said no out of habit, fear, busyness and my classic line of...oh, I don't do that anymore.
But I said yes, and something opened. It wasn’t just fun, it was soul fire.
We forget how much joy old passions can bring into our lives. Especially when shared and when you don’t take yourself so seriously.
This was that moment for me. I have a wonderful school mum friend that I connected with last year when my youngest started school, our kids are in the same class. It's not often you can sit with a group of people who get the life you have lived, it was refreshing and so lovely to find real friendships especially later in life.
So when the wonderful Australian Country singer Amber Lawrence asked the mums to be in her new film clip to dance, I just had to do it. But I had to have words with myself first.
You know those moments of self talk that new experiences bring up. The emotions and the excuses were real!
First it was, "No Sally you've done that... maybe you should say No!, then it was "Stop it Sally, you are just making excuses" so I ended it with "It's time Sally, to step out of the comfort zone and do something fun and what you love, She wouldn't have asked you if she didn't want you in it and more than anything I wanted to be there and support my friend.
I'll be honest, I had been sick and injured the whole month prior so I wasn't in my zone, but something in my gut was telling me, I had to do this. You know when you need to break the habit of saying no and step out.
So I did, I worked out my double denim look, (yep country dance hall vibes) did my hair and make up and I showed up. I showed up for the my first love, Dance, my friend, because I know how hard the industry and new releases can be and I showed up for myself.
I had the best night out, I danced and you know that feeling when your body simply resonates with what you are doing. It was all saying YES!
Was it a perfect situation, nope! I was bloated, tired, lacked energy and all that jazz, but something happened, I let my passion back in, one that not only was my work for over 20 years but one that led me down the path to fulfil my little girl dreams. My soul was screaming Happy Joy Joy! 😂
It was a small but soulful moment and I'm so grateful for the experience.

The Takeaway
"Your past passions are keys, not anchors holding you there. You don’t have to recreate the life you once lived, you just have to unlock a part of yourself again and let the passion back in"
Creative energy multiplies when you play and have fun, it also reconnects you with parts of yourself you may have left behind.
Amber's new track is called "Comeback Queen" how fitting right? It's so catchy you have to listen to it.
I remembered a part of me that night and I let the magic back in and the joy!
I'm sharing this story, because I know for sure that you too have passions you have let go of and need to call them back in or maybe you are doing them but have lost the lustre. It's toime to ignite the reasons why you started.
Something to Try
✨Passions List
Write a list of past passions or joys you abandoned or forgot.
Then pick one and find a way to playfully reintroduce it into your week, no pressure, no agenda. Just love.
It's so important we support Australian Music, if we don't then who will.....
Until next week,
Much love,
Sally xx
