Mentor Note:
Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do… is have fun. - Unknown
Lets Dive in...
Hello Reader,
Wow, what a week it's been.
If you’ve seen anything online, you’ll know Bardot (4 of us) reunited. There’s been press, buzz, nostalgia. But what you won’t see in the headlines is what it felt like inside my body.
It was out-of-body… and deeply embodied all at once.
For a moment, I was transported to my 25-year-old self - metallic sparkle, diamante jeans (thanks Ksubi), the lights, the audience, the vibe.
But this time, I wasn’t chasing or proving anything and I wasn’t surviving anything.
I was choosing it.
And that changes everything.
There’s a quote often attributed to Osho:
“The most spiritual thing you can do is have fun.”
We don’t often associate spirituality with pop stages, glitter, or 00s anthems. We associate it with meditation cushions, healing work, journaling and depth.
But what if joy is just as holy?
What if play is integration?
What if fun is not regression - but return?
When I said yes to this reunion, it wasn’t about nostalgia, it was about integration.
The performer in me is not separate from the mentor.
The popstar is not separate from the mother.
The girl who dreamt of the stage is not separate from the woman who guides others back to themselves.
For years, I’ve done deep inner work, I’ve faced the shadows of the industry, I’ve processed the hard moments and I’ve healed.
But something unexpected happened…
Standing on that stage didn’t pull me backwards.
It expanded me forward.
It allowed me to meet that younger version of myself - not with longing, not with ego, not with comparison - but with compassion.
She just wanted to feel alive, express and shine.
And here’s the truth: so do many.
Now let me be honest for a moment;
The in-ear monitors weren’t right. There was no proper in-ear check - which, if you’re a singer, you’ll know is vital. When your sound isn’t grounded, your nervous system isn’t either.
It wasn’t perfect, but the show went on and something beautiful revealed itself once again: connection doesn’t require perfection.
Even in imperfect sound, the audience sang, they danced and they felt something.
And in that moment, I realised...
Even the worst parts of our past experiences can transmute when we return with a new identity.
The industry once felt chaotic to me, disempowering at times and loud
But this time?
I was grounded, self-led and sovereign.
That is integration.
Not rejecting who you were, or clinging to who you were, but allowing all versions of you to sit at the same table.
Fun isn’t frivolous.
Fun is a nervous system that feels safe enough to play.
Fun is a woman no longer at war with her ambition.
Fun is spirituality without performance.
The Takeaway
If there’s a part of you that you’ve outgrown - or think you have, pause before you exile it.
Sometimes we don’t need to evolve away from who we were.
We need to evolve with them.
Integration is powerful.
It means the little girl who dreamed gets to stand beside the wise woman who built.
It means joy becomes fuel, not distraction.
It means you can revisit spaces that once stretched you… and experience them differently because you are different.
The most spiritual thing you can do is have fun.
Not because it’s light.
But because it signals wholeness.
Something to Try
This week, ask yourself:
• What part of me have I quietly shut down because I thought I’d outgrown it?
• Where have I mistaken play for immaturity?
• What would integration look like instead of rejection?
And then, do one thing purely for joy.
Not for growth, branding or productivity.
For aliveness.
Turn the music up, wear the sparkle, say yes to the stage - whatever your version of that is.
You don’t have to choose between being a deep spiritual being and delight.
You’re allowed to have both.
I appreciate you!
Until next week,
Much love,
Sally xx
