Mentor Notes #127 - When Life Expands Quickly

Mentor Note #127

Mentor Note:

“When life expands quickly, your job isn’t to move faster - it’s to lead yourself more steadily." - Sally Polihronas

Lets Dive in...

Hello Reader,

The last few weeks have been very different for me, mostly because of an unexpected girl band reunion.

My old girlband, Bardot announced a festival comeback performance, that landed with real scale. The response was immediate and heartfelt - excitement, love, and devotion from fans who have carried this music with them for 25 years. check it out here on insta.

And here’s what I noticed in myself.

My old pattern would have been to accelerate with the moment - to push, post, perform, manage perception, and override my body in the name of momentum.

That’s how I used to meet expansion.

This time, I chose something different.

I slowed my internal pace. I paid attention to what was being activated - physically, emotionally, energetically. I gave myself space to integrate the past with the present, rather than react from it.

As I did, I became aware that this moment isn’t only about me. It’s also about what this music and this time represent for others.

For many fans, this reunion is a remembering - of connection, shared experience, and a time when music brought people together in real ways.

Holding that awareness required steadiness, presence and regulation.

Expansion doesn’t just increase visibility - it increases responsibility and the only way to honour that is from a grounded centre.

The Takeaway

When life expands quickly, leadership isn’t proven by how fast you respond - but by how well you stay anchored.

Steadiness looks like:

  • regulating before reacting
  • integrating old identities instead of abandoning them
  • leading your inner world as carefully as the outer moment

This is how growth becomes expansive without becoming overwhelming.

Something to Try

If something in your life is accelerating, try this:

  • Pause before adding more.
  • Notice what’s being stirred internally.
  • Ask: What would it look like to meet this moment steadily?

Choose one action that supports regulation today:

  • rest before response
  • fewer outward moves
  • clearer boundaries
  • or simple presence with what’s here

You don’t need to move faster to meet expansion.
You need to meet it whole.

I can't wait to get back on stage again and perform old songs, but with new energy and a little more lived experience on my side.

I appreciate you!

Until next week,

Much love,

Sally xx

Mentor Note #131 Mentor Note: “Life is lived in the quiet moments between the applause.” - Sally Polihronas Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, After being back on stage recently, something struck me again. The contrast. Performing is electric, fast, loud and energised. Lights, sound, adrenaline, connection - everything moves quickly and intensely. There’s a heightened aliveness to it, and then… you return to normal life. School drop-offs, emails, grocery shopping, writing at the kitchen table and...

Mentor Note #130 Mentor Note: "Protect your energy. You get to choose who and what you let in." - Unknown Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, Have you ever walked away from a meeting or encounter thinking, wow! I feel tired or drained. This week reminded me how quickly you can absorb energy that isn’t yours if you’re not paying attention and how it can shape your day without you even realising it. A comment, a vibe, a constant expectation - it’s subtle, but it builds up over time. As creatives, we...

Mentor Note #129 Mentor Note: Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do… is have fun. - Unknown Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, Wow, what a week it's been. If you’ve seen anything online, you’ll know Bardot (4 of us) reunited. There’s been press, buzz, nostalgia. But what you won’t see in the headlines is what it felt like inside my body. It was out-of-body… and deeply embodied all at once. For a moment, I was transported to my 25-year-old self - metallic sparkle, diamante jeans (thanks...
