Mentor Notes #126 - Your past is quietly guiding you

Mentor Note #126

Mentor Note:

"The patterns of your past are the compass for your future." - Sally Polihronas

Lets Dive in...

Hello Reader,

Notice anything repeating in your life lately? Moments where energy flows easily, and moments where it stalls? Those patterns are not mistakes - they’re signals. They’re quietly showing you what’s working, what’s draining you, and where your focus can actually move the needle.

Patterns tell a story and reveal where you’ve shown up fully, where you’ve unconsciously held back, and where your energy has been scattered. Seeing this clearly doesn’t solve everything, but it does give you a map - a way to guide yourself instead of running on autopilot.

The Takeaway

Your past isn’t a prison, t’s a guide.

Awareness of your patterns is the first step toward intentional action.

When you know where your energy naturally flows and where it stalls, you can begin to make choices that actually move your creative life forward.

Something to Try

→ Take 15–20 minutes to create a Story Timeline.

You can use this worksheet - : Time Line Worksheet

  • Map key moments, projects, or decisions from the past.
  • Notice where energy flowed freely and where it got stuck.
  • Sit with what emerges - you don’t need solutions yet, just awareness.

I appreciate you!

Until next week,

Much love,

Sally xx

Mentor Note #131 Mentor Note: “Life is lived in the quiet moments between the applause.” - Sally Polihronas Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, After being back on stage recently, something struck me again. The contrast. Performing is electric, fast, loud and energised. Lights, sound, adrenaline, connection - everything moves quickly and intensely. There’s a heightened aliveness to it, and then… you return to normal life. School drop-offs, emails, grocery shopping, writing at the kitchen table and...

Mentor Note #130 Mentor Note: "Protect your energy. You get to choose who and what you let in." - Unknown Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, Have you ever walked away from a meeting or encounter thinking, wow! I feel tired or drained. This week reminded me how quickly you can absorb energy that isn’t yours if you’re not paying attention and how it can shape your day without you even realising it. A comment, a vibe, a constant expectation - it’s subtle, but it builds up over time. As creatives, we...

Mentor Note #129 Mentor Note: Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do… is have fun. - Unknown Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, Wow, what a week it's been. If you’ve seen anything online, you’ll know Bardot (4 of us) reunited. There’s been press, buzz, nostalgia. But what you won’t see in the headlines is what it felt like inside my body. It was out-of-body… and deeply embodied all at once. For a moment, I was transported to my 25-year-old self - metallic sparkle, diamante jeans (thanks...
