Mentor Notes #106 - The freedom I found in a suitcase

Lets Dive in...

Hello Reader,

When I read this quote last week, I immediately had a flashback to 2006. My belongings were tucked away in storage, and I was living out of a suitcase while I travelled. At first, it felt strange - like I was missing something. But soon I realised that I didn't need much.

My “uniform” became ballet flats, Converse sneakers, skinny jeans, a t-shirt, easy clothes and a denim or leather jacket. Day after day, those few pieces carried me. LA, NY, London, Paris.....

And here’s what surprised me: instead of feeling restricted, I felt lighter. The simplicity freed me. There was no fuss, no excess, just me, moving through the world with what was essential.

That season of minimalism quietly taught me a deeper truth: awakening isn’t about what we accumulate, it’s about what we strip away.

I’ll be honest - I used to have a lot. Way too many clothes, accessories, and never once had I actually worn out a pair of shoes. I “Marie Kondo’d” my life long before Marie Kondo, and it felt so freeing.

These days (cue the track 🎶), I don’t need much. In fact, I wear my shoes until they’ve had their full journey and need to be tossed out 😂.

Fun fact: when I finally set up house again after 3–4 years of travel and living abroad, I realised something life-changing, home wasn’t in my things, it was in me.

That’s something I want to pass on to my girls too: when you know that freedom within, no thing or possession can define you.

The Takeaway

Manifestation often begins with wanting more; more success, more abundance, more of the dream. But the true dream life is found in alignment, not accumulation.

Sometimes it takes losing, letting go, or living with less to remember that freedom, clarity, and inner peace are the real treasures.

Looking inside awakens you to the truth that you are already enough.

Something to Try

ENERGY CHECK

This week, look at what surrounds you.
Is there something you’ve been holding onto out of habit, comfort, or expectation?

Try letting just one thing go, whether it’s an object, a piece of clothing, or even an old belief.

Notice how it feels to create space.

Sometimes the very thing we seek whether it's peace, freedom or clarity, meets us the moment we’re willing to let something go.

I appreciate you!

Until next week,

Much love,

Sally xx

Hello Reader, This year, I made a conscious choice to go deeper with you.To move beyond mindset tips, habit stacking, and productivity hacks - and into the parts of growth that happen underneath the surface. (You know the inner work stuff not many talk about.) And you stayed. We only lost 2–3 readers through this shift - which tells me everything I need to know about you and...

Mentor Note #112 Mentor Note: “The moments of greatest resistance are the moments right before transformation.” - David Ghiyam Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, I was sitting here thinking I've got to inspire you and give you all I've got this week and then I had this overwhelming feeling to just stop and sit in the gut feels and share this wisdom. There’s something super potent about this time of year; the last days of October hold a quiet power. In mystical traditions, the period between...

Mentor Note #111 Mentor Note: "Surrender to change or suffer in a loop." – Unknown Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, I was thinking this week about my notes and how sometimes, when you look back on personal growth, it feels so much easier than living through it in the moment. Times of change, expansion, or elevation can feel like you’re drowning, like you’re losing yourself. They can be some of the hardest moments to navigate - even when you know they’re exactly what you need. I’ve seen it in my...
