Mentor Notes #144 - Beauty is not superficial. It's spiritual.

Mentor Note #144

Mentor Note:

It’s not superficial to want beauty - it’s spiritual to honour what makes you feel alive. - Inspired by Sonia Choquette

Lets Dive in...

Hello Reader,

I’ve been to London, Paris and now Sicily and I’ve noticed something shift in me the moment I arrived in Paris.

It’s not something dramatic or obvious, but more of a softening.

Like my system finally had permission to slow down in a way I didn’t realise it was waiting for.

And I think that’s what I love about places like Paris and Italy.

They don’t ask anything of you in the same way other parts of life do.

They don’t require performance or decision-making or constant forward motion.

They just ask you to notice.

The light and beautiful landscapes, the pac of life and the way people move through their day. The small details you would normally pass by without thinking.

And I can feel how quickly that begins to change something internally.

Because when you slow down enough to actually see things, something in you also starts to settle. It’s like an inner peace. It takes a few days to settle into it.

Not in a shutting-down way, but in a returning-to-yourself way.

I’ve realized you don't always notice how much tension you carry until you’re somewhere that doesn’t require you to hold it anymore.

And then suddenly you can feel the difference.

In your breath, your body and in the way your moving through space.

And it makes me think about how often we move through life without giving ourselves that kind of permission.

To soften and slow down and allow ourselves to be immersed and affected by beauty again.

Because beauty shouldn’t affect you in a negative way it recalibrates something.

It reminds you that there is more to life than urgency and output and constantly becoming something else.

Sometimes it just brings you back to what is already here.

The Takeaway

Beauty doesn’t distract you from life - it brings you back into it.

Something to Try

Notice one thing today that you would normally overlook.

Then pause long enough to actually take it in.

And ask yourself:

What changes in me when I slow down enough to see this?

Appreciate the beauty this week and allow yourself to be surrounded by it. Buy the flowers, don’t wait to wear the outfit and buy that little trinket that remind you of that beauty in life.

I appreciate you!

Until next week,

Much love,

Sally xx

Mentor Note #146 Mentor Note: "The longer I live, the less interested I am in becoming someone new and the more interested I am in being fully myself." - Sally Polihronas Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, I turned 50 yesterday, crazy, I saw my card and thought, wow, I feel like I’m younger. It’s like the soul has an age because I always feel like I’m in my 20-30’s. Even saying I turned 50 feels a little surreal, not because of the number itself, but because of what I thought this age might feel...

Mentor Note #145 Mentor Note: The things we remember most are rarely the things we planned. They're the people who made us feel at home. — Sally Polihronas Lets Dive in... Hello Reader, By the time you read this, I've traded beautiful villas, bustling cities, and some of Europe's most breathtaking destinations for my dad's more small town village in Greece. And to be completely honest... It has been a bit of a shock to the system. After weeks of travelling through London, Paris, Sicily and...

Hello Reader, I'm writing this from Paris and I'm having a real pinch me moment. Its my 3rd trip to paris but to be here with my family and seeing my girls react to all its splendour is really something I couldn't have dreamt of. It's been two days since the show in London, and I've noticed something interesting about what happens after something...
