Mentor Notes #143 - The Energy That Stays After The Show

Mentor Note #143

Some experiences don’t end when they finish, they continue to move through you. - Sally Polihronas

Lets Dive in...

Hello Reader,

I'm writing this from Paris and I'm having a real pinch me moment. Its my 3rd trip to paris but to be here with my family and seeing my girls react to all its splendour is really something I couldn't have dreamt of.

It's been two days since the show in London, and I've noticed something interesting about what happens after something like that finishes.

There's still a strange kind of energy in me, like my system hasn't fully come back down yet. Not in an unsettled way, but in a way that feels like I'm still slightly inside it. Like part of me is still on that stage.

And I didn't expect how much I would notice myself in that space afterwards. Because the truth is, it's easy to think the moment ends when the performance does.

You prepare, you rehearse, you build towards it. And then you step into it fully. But what I didn't anticipate, and what I wonder if you've felt too - is how long it actually stays with you after. Not as thought, but as feeling. As real energy and a kind of internal echo of having been fully expressed.

"Life feels slightly louder for a while
after you've said yes to something
bigger than your comfort zone."

I've realised something in that. There is a version of you that only becomes visible when you've just been inside something that asked you to show up completely.

Not because you become someone new. But because what was already there, gets activated in a way you can't ignore anymore.

You might know this feeling, maybe it wasn't a stage, maybe it was a conversation you finally had, a decision you finally made, a room you finally walked into. But you'll recognise the aftermath - the way everything feels slightly different in the days that follow. The way you're thinking, the way you're speaking, even the way you notice small things.

That's not coincidence. That's expansion.

And I think that is what changes us more than anything. Not the anticipation before it, not even the moment itself, but the lingering afterwards - when you realise you are still carrying the version of you that showed up.

Still here, still open and still changed in ways you don't need to immediately define.

The Takeaway

Some experiences don’t end when they finish - they keep living through you.

Don't rush back to normal.

After something big, there's often a pull to return quickly, to get back to routine, to process it neatly and move on. But the expansion that follows something that asked everything of you? That's worth staying inside for a little while.

Let it move through you. You don't need to define it yet, you just need to notice it.

Something to Try

  • Think of the last time you said yes to something bigger than your comfort zone. Can you still feel it in you?
  • Notice where you're rushing to "return to normal" after something significant - and ask yourself what you might be closing down too soon.
  • Write one sentence about who showed up in that moment. Keep it somewhere you'll find it later.

I appreciate you!

Until next week,

Much love,

Sally xx

Hello Reader, I turned 50 yesterday, crazy, I saw my card and thought, wow, I feel like I’m younger. It’s like the soul has an age because I always feel like I’m in my 20-30’s. Even saying I turned 50 feels a little surreal, not because of the number itself, but because of what I thought this age might feel...

Hello Reader, By the time you read this, I've traded beautiful villas, bustling cities, and some of Europe's most breathtaking destinations for my dad's more small town village in Greece. Hello Reader, I’ve been to London, Paris and now Sicily and I’ve noticed something shift in me the moment I arrived in Paris. It’s not something dramatic or obvious, but more of a softening.
