Mentor Notes #116 - The Secret Weapon of Creative Women

Mentor Note #116

Mentor Note:

“Intuition is the direct messenger of the soul.” - Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves

Lets Dive in...

Hello Reader,

I picked up the book, Women Who Run With the Wolves again this week, and it hit me- maybe more than ever, how deeply women have been taught to mistrust their own inner voice.

The author, Clarissa writes about intuition as our ancient instinct, our inner wildness, our fierce knowing… and yet so many of us have learned to override it with logic, productivity, or the need to be “good.

It made me think about how often creative women drift away from their gut feelings, long before we’re ever taught how to honour them.
➝ Logic gets praised.
➝ Productivity gets glorified.
➝ External validation becomes the compass we follow.

And in that process, you forget the oldest, truest guidance system you have: the quiet pull inside you that knows.

Every time I work with creatives - every time I reflect on my own journey, I see how intuition is the first thing that is silenced and the last thing we return to.

But when you reconnect with it? Something powerful happens. You soften, you align, you create from a place that feels real.

This Mentor Note is about exactly that - coming home to the soul’s messenger.

Your intuition, that quiet, steady inner voice is the soul’s language. It’s not loud, dramatic or demanding. It’s subtle, certain, and wise and it knows well before your mind catches up seeing what your fear blinds you from.

When Clarissa says intuition is the messenger of the soul, she’s reminding us that deep knowing comes from a place far older than fear, far wiser than doubt, and far truer than the ego’s chatter.

Your intuition has always been the part of you that:
✨ recognised red flags before you could articulate them
✨ sensed opportunities before they fully formed
✨ pulled you toward creative ideas that didn’t make sense but felt right
✨ whispered “not this” or “yes, this” with a clarity your mind couldn’t explain

Intuition isn’t mystical or Woo Woo, it’s a lived intelligence. A remembering and returning to yourself and a direct line to your true essence.

And when you’re a creative, intuition is not just guidance - it’s strategy.
Your best decisions, best work, best ideas never come from forcing. They come from listening.

The Takeaway

When you follow intuition, you follow alignment.
When you ignore it, you feel misaligned, disconnected, or creatively blocked.
Your soul is always signalling, but you’re simply learning to trust that calling.

Intuition isn’t something you grow - it’s something you return to.

Something to Try

A 2-part intuitive check-in:

  1. Place a hand on your heart and ask:
“What truth am I avoiding because I’m scared of what it might require?”
  2. Then ask:
“What would my intuition choose if fear had no vote?”

Write the first thing that comes up - without editing.

✨ Journalling is the most simple and effective way to connect with the subconscious mind. It connects you to your deepest truth. Having a journal where you can write daily will help you unlock your deepest thoughts and patterns.

I appreciate you!

Until next week,

Much love,

Sally xx

Hello Reader, As the year quietly turns, I’ve noticed how different it feels to begin from a rested place rather than a rushed one. After some time away, slowing down a little, breathing deeper, and living a little more gently, I’ve been sitting with what really matters as we step into what’s next. And what keeps returning to me is this: The...

Hello Reader, As the year winds down, I always find myself noticing the quiet in those last few days - the space after the busyness, before everything starts again. I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to rush straight into “what’s next” without pausing to check in with ourselves. This space matters the most! Before any resolutions or plans take over, I...
